How do I make the leather soft on my full grain leather leather shoes?
I have a pair of full grain leather shoes, and I have tried just about everything to make them soft. I have another pair of the same shoe but for some reason the other pair is much softer. I have tried soaking them in water, using chelsea leather food (a conditioner), walking around in them for many days in a row, but for some reason they are not as soft as I would like them to be. Any suggestions on making them really soft without damaging the leather? Thanks

You can't make leather "softer" except by buying shoes with thinner (and shorter-lived) leather. The water process probably did you more harm than good. One "breaks in" thicker-leather shoes by wearing them a lot, causing the bend spots to more match your feet and walking style. When it comes to shoes, softness equals weaknesses.
With leather, you get what you pay for, and you can't change the quality of the leather (and using water was the worst possible thing you could do anyway). And it has nothing to do with how thick or thin the leather is. Fine cordovan shoes have very thick leather, but it are also very soft. Simply put, you can't buy good quality mens leather dress shoes for under $200, and I am guessing you spent far less.
