How to safely tear up the wood floor which has mold growing on the back of the wood and concrete sla
The wood floor in our family room (20"x20") has numerous discolorated spots. We ripped up a couple of wood pieces and found mold growing on the back of the wood and on the concrete slab. Our plan is to cover up the air vent and contain the room with plastics from the rest of the house when we remove the wood floor. We want to somehow first kill the mold with diluted bleach before ripping up the wood floor. How can we get to the mold as the woods are still glued down to the concret slab?

Protect your self this mold wont harm you,The mold you see isnt the problem,Its the fungi that lives in symbiosis with it lies dormant for years and a bathroom spray disinfectant might helpand rubbing alcohol works wonders and its cheap just pour a gallon on said mold and watch as it evaps and leaves oil left and bottom line is protect yourself!!IE feel water b4 jumping in bath! Can't answer on how to get it up other than brute force. However, mold spores (fungal spores) are not good to be breathing, so wear nitrile gloves and respirators that can filter out mold spores. N95 rated masks from 3M with a breathing valve are fairly comfortable.

Wash all contaminated clothing with hot water and detergent, boots with rubbing alcohol or a good fungicide (check with your local farm stores for good and cheap).

Not all molds are pathogenic, but just about any spores can be major respiratory irritants if you inhale enough. Don't take chances with your health -- masks are cheap.
